Although the industry has control over its emissions, the dynamics of the atmosphere are the ones who govern the direction and degree of dispersion of the volume of pollutants emitted. Therefore, it is necessary to use various atmospheric sensors, models, databases and other software for the monitoring and prognosis of this dispersion.

The companies, then, are forced to hire several suppliers to obtain the necessary set of information. AWAIRE® AQ stands as a complete solution that integrates the entire production chain for estimating dispersion based on emission data.

The AWAIRE® AQ solution is able to have several versions in which hardware, software and service packages are integrated, with the purpose of serving from large industrial complexes to small enterprises in different environmental conditions.

The sensor options were designed to cover the variables and atmospheric phenomena that interfere with the dispersion of pollutants, namely: meteorological variables close to the surface, atmospheric stability, height of the boundary layer, day and night thermal inversions. The choice of sensor options also considers the possible scenarios for the location of the enterprises, such as latitude, coastal, arid, mountainous regions and valleys. To cover these possibilities, surface weather stations, short, medium and long-range wind profilers, as well as temperature profilers are available.

The services include the analysis of the facilities and availability of information, which will allow the client to be guided on the best AWAIRE® configuration for their company; installation of sensors; installation and configuration of the server “in loco” or use of the cloud server, eliminating an specific infrastructure and updates for the system in the company.

The basic software package includes the database in which emissions data, sensors, alerts, model results and simulations are stored, with a user-friendly search and export system. Before the emission and sensors data are inserted in the database, they go through algorithms for validating, optimizing and integrating the sensor data. The AERMOD atmospheric dispersion model optimized for the treatment of atmospheric profile data generated by local sensors is integrated with AWAIRE® for the generation of results. The basic AWAIRE® also has a simulator to emulate specific scenarios, as well as revisiting historical situations and a configurable emission violation alert system. All of this in a network-based architecture, allowing AWAIRE® to be used on any computer logged on the network, only through a browser. To the basic AWAIRE® can be added the WRF model with assimilation of local data and grid nesting for prognosis.

AWAIRE Air Quality is a hardware, software and service package, which aims to be a complete solution for monitoring and forecasting the dispersion of pollutants in industrial areas and their surroundings. AWAIRE receives all inventory data, uses surface meteorological sensors, wind and temperature profilers to continuously measure all relevant atmospheric boundary layer parameters. All data is filtered, processed and ingested in a pollutant dispersion model, supported by an atmospheric forecast model. The results are shown in web based interface and the AWAIRE can also be used to simulate scenarios.
